If the North Shore had a welcome sign…it might be Gooseberry Falls!
This is the waterfall park that everyone talks about — and once you see it, you’ll get why. And if you’ve seen it before…you’ll want to see it again!
The Gooseberry River does its thing, tumbling down over ancient volcanic rock in a broad, dramatic rush that refuses to be ignored.
Spring? The park shakes with rushing water. All that ice and snow finally lets go, and the falls turn into a churning, foamy spectacle that you can hear before you see. It’s wild, it’s loud, and it’s amazing!
Come fall, the whole valley catches fire with color and the falls look extra epic framed in red and gold. Basically, no matter when you visit, Gooseberry always puts on a show.

How to Get There From North Shore Camping Co.:
It’s a breeze — just turn right onto Highway 61 and head south. About 11 miles down the road, you’ll spot the turnoff for Gooseberry Falls State Park. Park near the visitor center (bonus: indoor bathrooms!) and then it’s a quick stroll to the Middle Falls overlook. That’s the spot with the classic view — river pouring through sculpted rock, spray in the air, everyone grinning and taking way too many photos.
If you’re feeling ambitious (or just want to stretch your legs), do the Falls View Loop. It crosses the river twice, hits up a bunch of different angles, and pretty much guarantees you’ll fill your camera roll.
