Winter camping at North Shore Camping Co. is a way to step into the wilderness without taking on every risk and responsibility of a traditional winter expedition. You’ll still get the cold air, snowy trails, wood smoke and star-filled nights—but with equipment, support and a comfortable base waiting for you.

When you’re ready to warm up, head back to your tent, get the wood stove crackling and make yourself cozy.

What to Know Before You Go

Winter camping is cozy, but it’s still camping. Here are a few things to know before your stay:

• Each winter tent is equipped with a wood-burning stove that will keep the tent warm when the fire is actively maintained.
• You’ll need to add wood throughout your stay—and occasionally during the night—to keep the fire and the warmth going.
• Our canvas tents are not insulated, so the tent will begin to cool when the fire dies down.
• Extra winter bedding is provided.
• Guests should come prepared for winter weather with warm boots, jackets, hats, mittens and plenty of layers.
• Every tent has an outdoor firepit that is perfect for campfire cooking.
• We’ll help transport your gear to and from your site, so you can enjoy the winter landscape without carrying a full load through the snow.
• Guests are welcome to warm up or spend time indoors at our Base Lodge or nearby Cove Point Lodge.
• We do not camp when temperatures fall below zero. Alternate lodging at Cove Point Lodge may be available, based on availability.
