Why One Night Isn’t Enough
Midweek stays are where the North Shore really opens up — quieter trails, uncrowded state parks, and room to explore the lakeshore at your own pace. Staying longer doesn’t mean doing more. It means doing it better.Below are a few ways longer stays unfold up here.
Two Nights: Just Enough to Exhale
Perfect for a quick reset
Night 1: Arrive, unpack once, light the fire, and let the day end slowly. Dinner over the fire. Early night or late laughs – your call.
Day 2: Head to Gooseberry Falls State Park for waterfalls, river trails, and big Lake Superior views.
Take your time. Picnic. Wander the shore. Head back to your site for the night, and order a Pepperoni in the Pines Pizza party from The Crossings, and let dinner come to you!
Departure Morning: Coffee by the fire, one last walk, no rushing, breakfast at Cove Point Lodge.
Three Nights: Tree Talk Sweet Spot
The balance of adventure and a forest reset
Night 1: Settle in. Fire going. No agenda.
Day 2: Visit Split Rock Lighthouse for iconic views and shoreline walks, then continue north to Tettegouche State Park for cliffs, overlooks, and quiet trails.
Day 3: Sleep in. Stay close to camp. Read, nap, play cards, or revisit a favorite spot from the day before. Use our barrel saunas. Use the pool, hot tub, and sauna at Cove Point Lodge. Skip rocks into Lake Superior in the Cove before you back across the road to camp.
Final Morning: Pack slowly. Have coffee and cook breakfast. Don’t check out until it’s time. Listen to the birds. Leave rested, and check out Gooseberry Falls State Park on the way home.
Four Nights: When You Totally Get It
For campers who want the full experience.
Night 1: Arrival without a clock. You’ve got time. Explore your way up the scenic North Shore.
Day 2: Time well spent in Gooseberry Falls State Park — hike the river, sit by the water, linger longer than you normally would. At night – order your pizza party in the pines!
Day 3: Breakfast over the campfire. Head just down the road and learn about the history and shoreline at Split Rock Lighthouse, followed by a quiet beach walk or sunset along the lakeshore at Cove Point Lodge, just across the road from us.
Day 4: Pre-order your campfire cookery kit for the evening, and grab breakfast at the Crossings -and then head North to Grand Marais! On the way – explore the waterfalls at Temperance River State Park. Grab lunch in town, and visit Voyeguer Brewing Company. Head back for one last dinner around the campfire.
Departure Day: Campfire coffee. One last walk, and a few tree hugs. Lakeside breakfast at Cove Point Lodge.
